Greetings relatives:

American Indian Movement leader and Indigenous Rights Activist, Leonard Peltier has been unjustly incarcerated for the past 31 years.

On Tuesday, February 6th, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm, the New York City Leonard Peltier Support Group invites you to an evening of music, history, spoken word, open mike & updates on his case.

Live music will be hosted by Native American activist and recording artist Wayquay for W.I.N.D. Running Mouth Radio. There will be a legal update by Peltier’s Attorneys and special guests from near and far as well as live radio interviews.

This will all take place at the International Action Center 55 W 17th St., 5th floor, NY , NY 10011 and you can call them at 1(212)633-6646 for more information.

If you are a drummer, musician, singer, or a poet and would like to dedicate a piece to Leonard Peltier you are welcome to attend and participate. There will be some light refreshments served, a live auction, and donations will be accepted at the door.

The late great Dr. Martin Luther King once stated, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” The wrongful imprisonment of Leonard Peltier is a grave injustice and these 31 years of injustice are a threat to justice everywhere.

Dig your hands in the Earth, chop wood, gather stones and celebrate Autumn! We invite you to join us in giving active and loving care to our Brook Park as well an opportunity to stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples. We welcome both skilled and unskilled alike to join us for a day of service to Mother Earth and All Our Relations through focused and joyful work. 12noon - Lighting of Fire for the Stones

1pm - Reading of the Papal Bulls and Bulls Burning

3pm - Purification Ceremony (aka Inipi, Temascal, Kansi/Guanara), facilitated by Roberto Mukaro Borrero (Boriken Taino)

Following the Purification Ceremony will be a time for sharing from the heart around the sacred fire…

All are welcome - Bring food to share, instruments, tobacco, and a good heart as we pause to acknowledge Mother Earth and the over 500 struggle of Indigenous Peoples throughout the Americas and beyond. In solidarity, prayers and songs will be extended to Leonard Peliter who is enduring his 30th year of imprisonment, as well as those who are fasting for Leonard’s Freedom until October 12th.

Solidarity through prayer and song will also be extended to the Anti-Columbus Day rally in Denver as well as in other places around Turtle Island, the Mohawk protesters in New Caledonia, the Taino and other Caribbean Indigenous Nations, and for those preparing to lobby the United Nations for the passage of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

This gathering is sponsored by the Friends of Brook Park, the Cacibajagua Taino Cultural Society and the UCTP Office of International Relations and Regional Coordination.

A Special Message from Leonard Peltier on his 62nd birthday!

A Special Message from Leonard Peltier:



Greetings Sisters, Brothers, Friends and Supporters! Well here it is another year. Another birthday. This one makes me 62 yearsold. Also this makes it my thirty plus years in prison. I believe it was right after I was illegally convicted in Fargo, North Dakota when I wrote a statement telling everyone that my freedom would only come after the masses had demanded it. But first we would have to unite and organize, to reach them. So far we have been unable to do so.

Yes we have reached millions who have signed my petitions we have circulated throughout the world asking for my release. True most of those good peoples are from Europe, but we have alsomade a lot of gains here in the United States. At one time we had fifty five (55) members of Congress sign a letter for a new trial or my release. Fifty-five members is historical. No other prisoner in history has ever beenable to accomplish this, nor has anyone else, individually I mean, and thereare other accomplishments we have made and won here in the United States.

Still I sit in prison not because I am guilty of the alleged crime I was illegally convicted of but because we still are unable to reach the masses here in America. The reason for this is not because the American people do not care or want to help, but because we have been unable to reach them. Personally I believe the majority of them do care and want to help. We sense this from the ones we are able to reach. We are moving forward very slowlyin this freedom campaign of mine. The reason is we just do not have the financial resources to move forward at the pace we would like to be. This is the real and only reason that we have not been able to reach the people inthe United States. Nothing is free here in America, not justice or the media.

So although there is still no light at the end of the tunnel for me or my freedom, we continue struggling forward. I continue to search for the hope and strength I need to survive. I continue to pray and hope that oneday I will get the support I need from the American people and one day I will still be able to walk out of prison. So my hopes and spirits are still high at my 62 years of age. I continue on this continued struggle. We are still finding bits and pieces of new evidence to file new appeals on. Thoseof you who have followed my case closely I can imagine are thinking How can this be, as there has been so many constitutional violations already. But the same old problem exists. The courts continue to cover up the continued criminal acts of my conviction committed by my prosecutors.
